In digital transformation era, employees should acquire problem solving skills in order to deal with problem in the workplace. Before solving a problem, ones need to identify or define the problem first to provide better solutions towards the problem. There are several techniques of problem identification to solve a problem which described as follows.
DMAIC Technique
DMAIC basically stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control in which refers to the phase of DMAIC. This technique provides a quality improvement and problem-solving method used to improve business performance.
RCA Technique
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a technique of problem-solving used for identifying the root causes of problems or incidents. Root Cause Analysis is based on a principle that problems can be solved by correcting their root, whilst other methods focus on addressing the symptoms of problems.
Five Whys Technique
The Five Whys technique is a simple and effective tool for solving problems. Its primary goal is to find the exact reason that causing a particular problem by asking a sequence of "Why" questions.
Conclusion
To sum up, problem-solving process can be done easier if we define or identify the problem first. By defining or identifying the problem, we can know what problem we are facing and propose the solutions to solve the problem that will affects the efficiency and productivity in organization.
